Triple APOD - February 16, 2026: IC434 Horsehead and Flame Nebula by Kirby Price

The Horsehead Nebula is located in the Orion constellation. With a magnitude of 4.5 and located about 1500 light years from Earth this is bright and popular target for astrophotography.

About 3.5 hours of total integration taken on Jan 14, 2026 for this image taken from Bortle 7/8 skies in Sherwood Park Alberta.
 
Light frames of 240 seconds were done using the following:

Askar PHQ107 scope with 0.7 reducer, EAF for focusing

ZWO 294MC Pro camera with a gain of 125 and -20C cooling

Optolong L-Enhance filter

Skywatcher 100i mount

30mm f4.0 guide scope with ASI 120mm Mini camera
Control done with ASIAIR Plus.
