De par sa nature, un orthoscopique produit un champ de vision plat avec une courbure de champ ou un astigmatisme minimal pour produire des vues avec des détails nets et nets.
Contrairement aux orthos conventionnels, ce modèle présente un large angle de vue apparent de 62° qui, lorsqu'il est couplé à la longue distance focale, permettra de voir facilement de grandes parties du soleil. Daystar a construit l'oculaire avec un canon standard de 1,25" de diamètre pour le rendre compatible avec la taille la plus populaire des tubes de tirage et des accessoires, avec un œilleton en caoutchouc rabattable pratique.
