First real OTA!

I started in astrophotography like a lot of folks I've talked to. I wanted to look at the stars, totally visual until I tried to look at deep sky objects. Most were underwhelming. Small gray smudge here maybe a bit of red but by and large it's not what I've seen in pictures which is what I wanted to see so after making the mistake of getting the Powerseeker 127eq, I purchased a good quality goto mount and the iOptron 6-inch F4 imaging newtonian to use with my dslr to take those pictures of what I wanted to see. I'm so happy with my purchase I would buy it again if this one ever broke. I've just started imaging with it and I love what I've captured so far. The scope holds collimation very well and it's easy to do. The mirrors are clean, Clear and fast. The primary is center spotted to make collimation easier. The focuser is smooth and holds my camera stable with no flexing I've detected. If I have anything negative to say about the scope it would be that I wish the inside of the OTA was flocked or had baffles to reduce stray light and a small fan over the rear like a lot of the 8" fast newtons do would be a nice addition but for the price you can't do better in my opinion. I've attached one sub exposure of M51 I took with this scope. It hasn't been processed so it's the raw image so you can see what the scope is capable of. I do not have a coma corrector which is required for round stars to the edges with a fast newton. That said, see attached, the scope can do better in more experienced hands. Lol

My first astrograph

Wow, I had a "kids" telescope as my first telescope. The powerseeker 127eq which I found out after buying thar it wasn't what I was looking for. I wanted something I could image what I was seeing thru the telescope so I could share that beauty with others. The 127eq was not that scope so after doing my homework, this time, I settled on iOptron's 6" F4 imaging newtonian, ieaf compatible telescope and first light was so different. It's an inch bigger than the 127eq and the mirrors are fast, clear and easy to collimate. It's a relatively light, small newton at about 13lbs with the rings, dovetail and finder scope and just 22" long, a 600mm focal length for a focal ratio of F4. You will want to get a good coma corrector especially if you're planning on imaging. If you want to take beautiful pictures of DSOs, the moon and planets or just want a way better visual experience, I highly recommend iOptron 6-inch F4 imaging newtonian ieaf compatible! Clear skies!
