Triple APOD - November 21, 2025: Iris Nebula by John Mirtle

The Iris Nebula is a famous reflection/dark nebula in the constellation Cepheus. It is one of the closest popular targets to the Northern Celestial Pole, and as such it can be imaged at any time of the year for people as far north as we are. Acquisition details from John are as follows:

  • Camera: ZWO ASI533MC Pro at -15C, gain 0
  • Filter: SVBony 2” UV/IR
  • Scope: Takahashi FSQ106, 530mm f5
  • Mount: Skywatcher EQ6R Pro
  • Exposure: 24 x 10 minutes or 4 hours
  • Guiding: ASI210MM via ZWO OAG
  • System Control: ASI Air+
  • Location: near Elkwater, Alberta
  • Date: September 28 2025
