Great tripod for travel

Super light but stable tripod for small astrophotography setup. Plastic tray is a bit flimsy but not necessary as tripod has built in spreaders. All-Star Telescope made it easy to order and it was delivered quickly.

Solid tripod that performs surprisingly well for the price...

Purchased from All-Star early this year, and have used this enough now to give an accurate review. I was interested in this to do quick setup pictures of variable stars using my Astrotrac and as a supplement to my main equatorial mount.
For portable shorter focal length astrophotography, this fits the bill perfectly. I have not seen or used a terrestrial photography tripod even close to this price range that offers the same stability. Leg compression locks have been easy to lock and have held all night without issue. The 3/8" center pin **** has been easy to torque by hand, and I have not had the base back off, an issue I have experienced before on other tripods - requiring excessive force as time goes by to keep everything in place. The center tray is a little fiddly to lock, but really adds to the stability once in place and has enough room for a battery pack or two and a dewstrap controller. Very happy with this so far. You can keep the tripod collapsed enough to easily allow quick grab-and-go setups when your schedule and weather allows. This makes a good compromise between being transportable and being astrophotography stable - and gets the slightly greater emphasis on stability correct, in my opinion. Recommended.
