Triple APOD - October 3, 2024: Rising Red Moon Behind the Calgary Tower by Terry Martin

Wildfire Smoke has negative effects for everybody, and thanks to climate change, hotter drier summers make it more and more prevalent of a nuisance. As annoying- and even dangerous- as it is, one has to admit: it can make for some pretty great photographic opportunities as well. While taking photos of the GlobalFest Fireworks Festival in late August this year, Terry swung his A&M (now Officina Stellare) 1056 telescope (105mm f/6.2) with a Nikon D810A over to the Calgary Tower, as it was lit up red for the evening. After noticing the equally red moon rising into position, he took advantage of the chance alignment and got this excellent photo to show for it!
