Product Description
Now with new-generation etalons — every unit individually tested on Lunt's precision metrology equipment. Every specification is verified, not estimated.
Maximum aperture meets maximum contrast. The LS100MT Premium Kit combines Lunt's premium 100mm FPL53 ED triplet optics with the SFPT internal double-stack module, delivering a combined system bandpass of <0.28Å — the highest-contrast chromospheric performance available in a portable instrument. With 100mm of premium triplet optics feeding dual pressure-tuned etalons, each with independent Doppler True tuning, you have complete control over bandpass optimisation for any atmospheric condition or solar feature.
The internal double-stack architecture means both etalons benefit from pressure tuning rather than mechanical tilt, maintaining perfect optical alignment across the entire bandpass adjustment range. This is not a set-and-forget system — it is a precision instrument that rewards engaged, intentional tuning.
What You'll See
At <0.28Å combined bandpass through 100mm of premium FPL53 triplet optics, you are seeing the chromosphere at the highest level of detail and contrast available in a portable instrument. Plage boundaries sharpen into defined cellular networks with individual cell structure visible. Filaments resolve into complex multi-strand architectures with dark cores, fine threading, and sharp boundary definition. Active regions reveal their full magnetic complexity — penumbral flows, light bridges, and small-scale evolution visible in real time. Prominences at this aperture and bandpass are extraordinary. Internal threading and flow patterns resolve from base to tip. Structural evolution becomes visible on timescales of minutes. The chromosphere is not a texture or a pattern — it is a living, dynamic landscape revealing itself in real time.
By night, remove the solar module and double-stack system and you have the finest 100mm refractor Lunt makes. FPL53 triplet optics with ion-assisted coatings deliver exceptional lunar, planetary, and deep-sky performance.
Why This Package
The SFPT internal double-stack module is included. Dual independent Doppler True pressure tuners give you separate control over each etalon — adjust them independently to optimise for prominences, surface detail, or any feature in between. The B1800 blocking filter provides 18mm of clear aperture for full-frame imaging capability. The zoom eyepiece covers every magnification from full-disk context to maximum-resolution detail in a single twist. The 8" Vixen dovetail provides the rail length that 100mm optics demand for proper balance on any mount.
