s30 has been great for deep sky objects

I have used the s30 for parts of 3 nights so far and it has been a real positive surprise. I am having some issues with the tutorials and manual which are clumsy and cryptic, but have been able to get things working enough to get very nice 10 to 15 min shots of 2 galaxies, a cluster and orion nebula. Tried to see how it might work for jupiter and as expected it was the terribly wrong tool for the job.
The biggest delay to get it working was trying to get the seestar app on a device - my phone was too old, 3 tablets were either too old on not based on an arm processor and 3 android emulators/containers I set up did not work consistently with the app. So, I had to additional buy an android tablet but once I purchased things have progressed.
So far the s30 has given me great professional looking results but it is so automated that it does not feel like amateur astronomy to be inside my warm kitchen looking at the scope through the window. So far from my experience with my manual dobsonian. My wife laughed at me when i brought in the s30 - asking if I needed help - in reference to the size and weight of the dob vs something I can now hold in one hand :)
I am looking forward to getting out (sitting in?) some more nights and trying the daylight scenery mode. Also wondering if it will hold up under the cold winter skys.
Thanks Brad

Seestar S30 in southern skies

Completely satisfied with the S30. Great for ease of set up and finding targets. Instructions are simple and understandable. Unfortunately it has be cloudy most nights or too bright. Got pictures of the moon last night (nearly full) that were very sharp. Looking forward to darker clear skies.

SeeStar S30 comfortable star gazing

Have not used the telescope much because of weather. Biggest disappointment is it needs a better "getting started guide" new to astrophotography and didn't find the necessary leveling, horizontal setup etc. until after we tried to use it with poor results trying to locate planets. Believe we will like it once it is properly adjusted and we get better at using it.

Decent enough little scope!

So far I have been enjoying it. It is good up to -10° C the long exposure capture is all right and the picture quality seems to be sufficient. I upgraded the solar filter to the BASF one and it is much clearer. I got the leveller for the camera tripod add-on elsewhere overall I’m enjoying my new little telescope. This should compliment my nexstar8SE well.
